Gentle Mates Replaces KOI in VCT EMEA Until the End of 2026

Riot Games recently confirmed that French team Gentle Mates will replace KOI in the VCT EMEA partnered lineup. KOI was removed due to inconsistent performance and unmet obligations, and Gentle Mates steps in after impressing Riot with their strategy, operations, and vision.

Known for their rise through the Ascension tournament, Gentle Mates returns as a permanent partner until the end of 2026. Director Marceau Lambert said, “VALORANT is part of Gentle Mates’ DNA. Our goal is to compete at the highest level and deliver performances worthy of our legacy.”

The 2026 season will also expand opportunities for rising teams. Two new teams will join the 12-team lineup, allowing top Challengers squads to compete in Stage 2 playoffs and aim for Champions qualification.
