A few months ago, I decide to start a project that small business people can use this software for their business. I know there are not many useful software and also expensive. Most of them are about 1k. This is a burden for small business people. Since I started working as a software engineer, I have dreamed I had a software for not wealthy people. I read an article many years ago. Linus Tobald's father told he was happy because his son made a software for people in this world. The article ashtonished me at the time. I hoped I could make something like him in my life. That could be a POS software with wholesale features for small businesses.
The technologies in this project will be like shown below.
- Frontend: Angular is one of the best frontend framework. Bootstrap or Material can be the CSS framework. I can't decide which one will be used now but I think Bootstrap is more flexible and has long history. I will decide this later.
- Backend: Go with Chi router. Python can be a good candate but Go has more powerful performance.
- Database: Postgresql will be the best choice.
- Frontend Agent: This will a go service app that communicates with display pole, receipt and label printers. Also this service app wiltransfer changed data from/to backend.
- Messaging Queue: RabbitMQ will be the best choice. With topic feature, the frontend Agent receives filtered data with this message queue.
- Local database: I will use Sqlite if I need it. This can be worked with PWA. This can be a good feature if user can't use network. But I am now sure for now.
- Container: Docker is the best solution. It is about $60 a year for unlimited private images. Then I can pull pushed images anytime I need them.
Procedure is not defiend yet. I will take many from my old work for this project. Container, Frontend, Backend and Agent can be the order of development.
I wanted a place to write down my idea and documentation for the project. And I found this velog and liked this markdown editor. :)
