오픽 노잼 IM 시리즈

001

Rule #1 : Never ask Ava a question. (If you must, ask a rhetorical question)
되묻지 말고, 차라리 수사적인 질문을

Rule #2 : Do not use difficult words that you are uncomfortable with. (Use simple words you are totally confident in using)
어려운 용어를 쓰면 말하는데 어색 차라리 쉬운 단어로 매끄럽게

Rule #3 : Try not to repeat the same word in the same sentence.
상위 레벨에서는 강조하는 것으로 사용하지만 제대로 안쓰면 어색

Rule #4 : Don't use 2 descriptive or feeling words using "and".
듣기에 스크립트 같음, 차라리 두개의 문장으로 나누어서 말하는게 더 효과적

Rule #5 : Talk about one thing, and one thing only.
말하는 주제에 연관돼서 말하고 다른 곳으로 빠지지 말 것

답변하는 시간은 1분 넘지 말 것

난이도 선택시 3은 고르지 말 것, 난이도가 높으면 더 높은 점수를 받을 수 있다.

5-5로 선택시 15문제

  • 1) 자기 소개
  • 2,3,4) 첫번째 콤보세트
  • 5,6,7) 두번째 콤보세트
  • 8,9,10) 세번째 콤보세트
  • 11,12,13) 롤플레이 세트
  • 14,15) 어려운 콤보세트

4,7,10번은 어려운 질문이 나옴, 12,13,14,15도 상위 레벨 문제

7개 중 5개를 완벽하게 대답하면 IH

난이도가 낮게 선택시 상위 레벨 문제 적어지므로, 더욱 완벽하게 해야 고득적 가능

Rule #5 : Talk about one thing, and one thing only.

질문에서 여러가지를 물어봐도 답변할 시간은 1분이기에 모든 것을 답변하는 것에는 한계가 존재한다.

따라서 A,B,C,D,E를 물어볼 떄 E를 대답할 경우 나머지는 잠깐 1% 언급하고 E에 99% 집중해서 대답을 해야함.

이래야 질문을 다 이해했고 여기에 대해서만 이야기 할 것이라는 것을 채점자에게 어필을 해야한다.

오픽 질문에는 4가지 카테고리가 존재 Description/Habit/Past Exprience/Comparison

Rule #6 : If you get nervous and have nothing to say, go right to the conclusion.

Habit 카테고리에서 더 말하는 방법 - quick-comparison, 잠깐 과거롤 갔다가 현재로 오는 방식

Comparison 전략

  • 콤보세트의 시작을 메인포인트(MP)로 해야한다
  • MP는 pure present만 집중해서 말하고 past에 대해서는 이야기 하지 말 것 (지금 상태만)
  • 현재(MP) -> 과거 -> 현재(과거는 건들지 말고) -> 결론
  • Rule #5 : 하나의 주제만 말할 것 지켜서 진행

  • 대충 어떤 것을 물어보는지 생각하고
  • 어떤 카테고리인지
  • 대답은 생각하지 말고, 다시 들을 수 있기에
  • 두번째 들을 때는 어떻게 대답할지 전략을 짠다

description 카테고리

전형적인 description 문제는 "Tell me about your home." 이러한 식으로 시험에서는 조금더 길게 나온다.

스크립트
Before

  1. My home isn't big
  2. But it's not small either
  3. My favorite room is my storage room
  4. It's so spacious

After

  1. My home isn't all that big
  2. But, you know, it's not all that small either
  3. But I gotta say, what I really love about my home is my storage room
  4. It's just so spacious

이렇게 집에서 MP를 창고로 잡았으면 이후에 이어서 서술할 떄 창고에 대해서 말해야 함.

1,2는 filler 3,4가 MP, filler가 너무 길면 안된다. 시간 제한이 존재하기에

따라서 3,4,1,2 이런 식으로 하는 것도 채점자에게 MP를 어필이 가능하기에 추천하기도 한다.

people에 대해서 물어보면 흐름을 people-> me로 넘어가는게 감정 표현등에서 유리

description 카테고리와 다른 점은 MP에서 좋은지, 싫은지에 대해 말하고 왜 그런가에 대해 말했다면,

habit 카테고리에서는 포괄적인 MP만 말하면 된다.

What do you usually do whenever you go to the bank? (행동에 관련된 질문이다)

No matter what. whenever I (go to the bank). I always make sure to bring (my airpods).

No matter what. whenever I (go to the beach). I always make sure to bring (my sunblock).

No matter what. whenever I ('m home during the week). I always make sure to (take out the recycling).

Habit에 쓸만한 패턴

  1. No matter what, whenever I ... I always make sure to bring...
  2. Every time ... I always check to see that/if I have ... with me.
  3. I'll tell you what (= You know what)

Well, here's the thing. Every time I go to the bank. I always chech to see that/if I have my airpods with me.

I'll tell you what. At the bank.I take out my airpods.

이러한 habit 할 때 전략으로는
MP(에어팟) -> 과거 -> 에어팟

Well, here's the thing.

You know, this is very crucial because somtimes the waiting time is just so long.

it really helps me to kill time

Habit 카테고리

Transportation

  1. No matter what, whenever I need to go somewhere, I always take the "subway or bus".
  2. This is crucial. It's quite rare for me to take other options.
  3. I love "how" I can read something while taking the public transit.
  4. It's the only time I can actually read.
  5. It's interesting cause I've never liked reading before.
  6. I still don't, but I love how it helps me to kill time especially while I'm commuting.

Recycling

  1. Everytime I need to recyle, I always check to see that all the cans and plastic bottles are crushed to save space.
  2. This is very important. It's really rare for me to forget to check.
  3. I'm quite lazy so I hate having to recycle if I don't have to.
  4. I take out the recycling only when my bins are full to the max.
  5. It's interesting cause I had to recyle nearly every day before.
  6. But now, with my new method of crushing everything.

이러한 예시 뒤에 결론을 넣어서 연습한다면 더 완벽한 스크립트로 들릴것이다.

Past Exprience 카테고리

다른 카테고리를 연습하면서 past exprience을 넣으면서 연습하는 것을 추천

예를 들어 description 카테고리를 연습할 때 같이 한다.

Q: Tell me about your favorite pub.
A: All right, there's this pub that I really like. You know, I think it's called "Cocky Pub". But anyway, this place is so amazing because they have so many different kinds of beer.

past exprience로 바꾸어서
Q: What was your favorite pub in the past?
A: Oh you know, when I was in my university days, you know there was this pub that I really liked. And I really liked this place because, you know, this place was like beer heaven.

전략
driect quotation + indirect quotation

You know, I went to this park for the first time. And I was like, "OMG, The flowers are jus so beautiful here!"

여기서 "ㅇㅇ"는 현재형으로 하고 나머지는 past exprience로 한다면 실력있어 보인다.

처음에 연습에는 자기만 대상으로 하다가 익숙해지면 다른 대상을 넣어서 연습

질문 종류

2. non-time 비교(두가지 장르, 사람 이런 것을 비교)

MP(현재에 대해서만) -> 과거 설명 -> 현재 설명 -> 결론

What I really find interesting about my home these days is that their lighting technology is just so phenomenal.

1가지만 집중해서 진행(여기서는 조명)

과거 설명 예시
You know, homes before didn't really have interesting lighting systems at all. I mean, to be point blank, you couldn't even adjust the brightness level. So I found that quite boring.

현재 설명 예시
But wow, the lighting system these days is a completely different strory. I mean, new homes now are set up with these lighting systems where you can actually adjust the brightness level. I find that quite intriguing.

만약 시험에서 하다가 멘붕오면 MP는 생략하고 과거 설명 예시부터 풀어나가면서 진행하도록

  1. 말하고 싶은것 말하기
  2. 어떻게 느끼는지
  3. 왜 그렇게 느끼는지

어떠한 것에 대해서 설명하는 문제라면 계속 사실만 설명하면 너무 딱딱해보임

설명하는 대상을 어떻게 느끼는지, 왜 그렇게 생각하는지에 대해서 서술하는 것을 추천

MP에서 한가지 방향으로 유도하면서 이야기를 이어가라

헷갈리게 길게 서술하는 것보다 짧은 것이 효과적일지도

MP: 설명하는 것 -> 어떻게 느끼는지 -> 왜 그렇게 느끼는지 -> 결론

habit 카테고리 전략

description 보다는 MP가 깔끔하지는 않아도 됨, General MP

usually do, first thing that you do와 같이 do로 끝나는 것들이 habit 카테고리

habit 답변이 짧은 것 같다면 quick comparison 전략을 사용해라, 과거에 경험에 비해서 지금은 어떻다고 빠르게 설명

past exprience 카테고리

계속해서 과거형으로 말하는 것을 집중

시험에서는 시간의 제한있기에 클라이막스를 먼저 말하는 것을 추천

결론을 먼저 말하면서 채점자에게 무엇을 말하고자 하는지 먼저 알려줌
