Investment casting is a precision manufacturing process. It is also known as lost-wax casting. This method creates metal parts with complex shapes and smooth surfaces.

How does it work?

The process has several main steps:

Make a Wax Pattern: A wax model is created in the exact shape of the desired part.

Build a Ceramic Shell: The wax pattern is dipped in a ceramic slurry and coated with sand. This is repeated to form a hard shell around the wax.

Remove the Wax: The ceramic mold is heated, and the wax melts and drains out. This leaves a hollow cavity in the shape of the part.

Pour the Metal: Molten metal is poured into the hot ceramic mold.

Break the Mold: After the metal cools and solidifies, the ceramic shell is broken away.

Finish the Part: The final casting is cut off from its feeding system and polished.
