With Logic Pro X's newest features, users can get much more done in the studio. Some of these new capabilities include Summing Stacks and a new MIDI plug-in. Other changes in this version of the software include a redesigned user interface and a better audio track editor.

MIDI plug-ins are a great way to speed up your workflow.
With a MIDI plug-in, you can quickly and easily control and modulate effects in your music. Several of the most useful MIDI plug-ins are available in Logic Pro. These include the Modulator,Arpeggiator, and Scripter. Each offers unique ways to add movement to your music.

The Modulator plug-in is the most useful of the three. MIDI data from your DAW or an external MIDI device can trigger the plug-in. You can also control it from the plug-in itself. You can even swap in or out MIDI data for various reasons.

For example, you can create a MIDI effect and add subtle envelope changes to instruments. It can also boost a randomized MIDI effect by using the Output Offset feature.

MIDI plug-ins are generally controlled through knobs or sliders.
Logic has a unique "MIDI Set" button that allows you to assign controls to a specific MIDI channel. This will enable you to group CC definitions for use in automation. There are eight controller assignments in each Set.

While not necessarily a MIDI plug-in, the Arpeggiator tool can transform any MIDI clip into a sequence of notes. You can control the number of repeats, the length of each letter, and transposition speed. You can also use transport controls to modify the arpeggiated notes.
Similarly, the MIDI Repeat Tool is an excellent little MIDI effect. It can quickly re-trigger notes, but it can also chew up polyphony.

Finally, the Scripter plug-in lets you load, customize, and manipulate factory scripts. It can also store your custom MIDI processing scripts as patches.Logic's Modulator MIDI plug-in is an exciting tool that offers new ways to add movement to your music. It's also a good choice for modular synth guys.

New audio track editor

Apple's latest update for Logic Pro X adds a new audio track editor. The Audio Track Editor is a multi-function tool that allows users to zoom in on an audio region and adjust the gain and pitch. You can also use it with Flex Time, a non-destructive editing feature that allows you to adjust the borders of an audio region.

In addition, the Audio File Editor is a tool for cutting, trimming, and inverting audio. It's also possible to copy and paste portions of one audio file into another.Another newest feature in Logic Pro X is an external sound library. This is a great way to get high-quality content without creating a project from scratch. There are also two new packs of music loops for GarageBand.

Logic Pro X 10.4.2 also includes a new mixer mode. You can now use channel strip faders, pan controls, and other channel strip functions with your Audio File Editor.Adapt Project Tempo to Region Tempo, a command that places tempo events on bars of the selected region, is now more reliable. When set, the Adapt Tempo to Region Tempo command consistently puts the tempo events on the suitable bars.

Changing the length of a region is now more reliably done. The Slice at Transient Markers key command consistently slices the files at the correct positions. Activate Next/Previous Track Alternative commands now roll over when the list of alternatives is displayed.

In addition, the File Tempo Editor now works reliably. Double-clicking a region on a track opens the File Tempo Editor. If you have Flex enabled, it will open in the Flex Time - Automatic mode.

User interface changes

The latest incarnation of the ubiquitous DAW, Logic Pro X, boasts a revamped sampler, a slick new step sequencer, and a Remix FX plugin that makes the formerly sexy DAW even sexier. And for the uninitiated, it's all made possible by the advent of a free 90-day trial.

Aside from slick new features and a redesigned user interface, Logic Pro X has retained its storied reputation as a music creation machine. It's an excellent option for anyone looking to increase their workflow capabilities across multiple DAWs. For newcomers, it's the best breed and a perfect introduction to the world of music production.

Not content to rest on its laurels, Logic Pro X is the most significant facelift the DAW has seen in years.
This includes an updated sampler, a slick new beat grid, and a Remix FX plugin, among other goodies. Users can work from two timelines on a single screen. The new sampler makes it easier to get that elusive loop moment. Plus, the latest step sequencer is a no-brainer if you're a diehard Logic user. Logic Pro X is also the only DAW on the market with a built-in MIDI controller, meaning your MIDI wizards can hit the ground running.

As a bonus, Logic Pro X can run on Android, Apple iOS, or Windows PC. A mobile version also uses the same interface as the desktop counterpart, but only the audio and video options. The one downside is that it's a tad limited in its options, but the free 90-day trial will allow you to decide for yourself. Logic Pro X's most impressive feat is its ability to inspire you.

Summing Stacks

Summing stacks are a powerful tool in Logic Pro. They enable you to combine multiple tracks into one group and control the entire group. You can mute or collapse the tracks as needed. These effects are great for tightening the sound of your songs.

Creating a Summing Stack can be done with a few simple steps. Go to the tracklist and press the 'R' button to get started. Select a patch in your library. Then drag the track header between two subtracts in the Track Stack. This will bring up a mixer window.

From there, you can move the track to the Summing Stack. You can add a new layer or change the name if you want. When you're done, you'll be able to see the Track Stack in the Track List.
If you'd like to edit the track, you'll need to choose the correct Flex mode. That's because editing a group of channels will use the appropriate Flex mode. In addition, you can use effects automation to apply changes to all tracks in the group.

You can also mute or hide if necessary.
Logic can show or hide them through the disclosure triangle, which is located on the track header.
Besides the main track, there are subtracts, which can be composed in any way. This includes layered software instruments, multi-output software instruments, external MIDI instruments, and even hardware synths.

To create a Summing Stack, you can do it yourself or use one of Logic's many factory patches. For example, you can add the Synthesizer / Soundscape / Encircling Flow patch.Adding a Track Stack will enable you to record more than one software instrument. You can also use it for recording different devices playing the same harmony.

The Logic Remote for Logic Pro app lets you turn your iPad into a touchscreen controller and transport device.
It's an excellent tool for instrumentalists, singer-songwriters, and anyone who needs to keep the Logic Pro screen in focus. In addition to controlling your Logic Pro session, you can record live looping sessions in Logic 10.5 and higher. This is especially handy if you're recording vocals in a booth.

Logic Remote's plug-in view provides a view of Logic's built-in and third-party plug-ins. You can adjust all the parameters of a plug-in or switch to another plug-in in the Logic Remote menu.
Logic Remote's Mixer view is an excellent way to get a feel for Logic's streamlined mixer. With it, you can select patches and adjust multiple faders simultaneously. There's also a full-screen browser for the sound library.

There are plenty of other useful features to enjoy in Logic Remote. For instance, you can add new tracks to your project from the app's interface and customize your Key Commands. A Smart Help guide displays context-sensitive help for a feature on the fly.

The Logic Remote app is available as a free download in the App Store. Connect your iOS device via Bluetooth for reduced latency, and keep your Logic Pro session in focus with the touchscreen. Also, use the Multi-Touch feature to trigger cells or move sections of your project.

Logic Remote isn't the only iOS MIDI keyboard, however. If you're looking for a more comprehensive touch instrument, you can try MainStage 3 or GarageBand. Those apps also allow you to connect wirelessly to Logic, but you'll need to have a Mac with a Logic Pro software package installed.
