1. Layout 계층 살펴보기

AppCompatActivity 를 상속받은 Activity 는 DecorView 하위의 LinearLayout 에 포함된 FrameLayout 이 Activity Layout 의 Parent 가 되는 것이 아닌, FrameLayout 하위에 설치된 SubDecor 하위의 ContentFrameLayout 이 Activity Layout 의 Parent 인 ContentView 가 됩니다.

이러한 Layout 계층 구조의 변경은 setContentView() 메서드 실행 과정 중 AppCompatDelegateImplensureSubDecor() 메서드에서 이루어집니다.

2. setContentView 어느정도 깊이로 들어가보기

분석에 사용된 예제 코드는 아래와 같습니다.

  1. AppCompatDelegateImplsetContentView() 메서드에 inflate() 등의 작업이 위임됩니다.

    • ensureSubDecor() 메서드에서 PhoneWindow 로부터 시작되는 Layout 계층 구조를 변경합니다.

    • 새로운 ContentView 인 contentParent 에 포함된 모든 View 를 제거합니다.
      activity_main.xml 을 inflate 하기 위해 inflate() 메서드를 호출합니다.

  1. LayoutInflaterinflate() 메서드가 실행됩니다.

    • tryInflatePreCompiled() 메서드를 호출하여 미리 생성되어있는 CompiledView 클래스가 있는 경우 CompiledView 를 통해 View 인스턴스들을 모두 생성한 다음 ContentView 에 곧바로 추가시킵니다. 미리 생성된 CompiledView 를 통해 View 인스턴스들을 생성하는 경우 XML Parsing 과정을 생략할 수 있기 때문에 inflate 속도를 향상시킬 수 있지만, 이를 사용하기 위해서는 @TestApi setPrecompiledLayoutsEnabledForTesting() 를 통해 특정 flag 를 활성화 시켜야 하는 것으로 보이므로, 일반적인 환경에서는 tryInflatePreCompiled() 메서드에서 CompiledView 를 통해 빠르게 View 인스턴스를 생성할 수 없습니다.

    • activity_main.xml 를 통해 XmlResourceParser 인스턴스를 생성하여 inflate() 메서드에 XmlResourceParser, ContentView 등의 정보를 전달합니다.

  1. 이전에 생성한 XmlResourceParser 와 함께 inflate() 메서드가 실행됩니다.

    • advancedToRootNode() 메서드를 호출하여 XmlResourceParser 가 가리키는 태그를 최상위 시작 태그(예: <androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>)로 이동시킵니다.

    • LayoutInflater's createViewFromTag()LayoutInfalter's tryCreateView()AppCompatDelegateImpl's onCreateView()AppCompatDeleageImpl's createView()AppCompatViewInflater's createView() 순서로 호출되며 XmlResourceParser 에서 가리키는 태그의 View 인스턴스 생성을 시작합니다. createView() 의 switch-case 구문에서 일치하는 태그를 찾지 못했다면 null 을 반환합니다.

    • ConstraintLayout 등 대부분의 ViewAppCompatViewInflatercreateView() 메서드를 통해 생성될 수 없으므로 createViewFromTag() 메서드로 돌아와 LayoutInflatercreateView() 메서드를 통해 View 인스턴스를 생성합니다. 이때는 Reflection 을 통해 생성할 View 클래스의 생성자를 직접 호출하여 View 인스턴스를 생성하게 됩니다.
