Suwon Samsung and Suwon FC played their last Suwon Derby match of the year at Suwon World Cup Stadium on October 16.

By looking at the data on official K-league website, Suwon Samsung is ranked 10th and Suwon FC is ranked 7th. Both teams are on the verge of relegation from the Final B (K League 1 lower group), but Suwon FC is currently having a more satisfying season than Suwon Samsung. Suwon FC lost the match against Daegu on October 9th, but won 2-1 against Seongnam on 12th of October, to confirm its stay in the K League 1.

On the other hand, Suwon Samsung's situation is serious. Suwon Samsung is currently ranked 10th. In order to avoid relegation, Suwon Samsung must compete with Seoul, which is currently ranked ninth, and win all the remaining games (including Suwon Derby). Also,Seoul FC must lose both games to reverse its ranking with Suwon Samsung.

Suwon FC lost 3-0 in the Suwon derby match against Suwon Samsung on the 16th. In the 25th minute of the first half, Suwon Samsung's Lee Jong-sung shook the net with a perfect half-volley shot. In the fourth minute of the second half, Myung Joon-jae, who was quickly digging into the left side in a counterattack, passed to Oh Hyun-kyu, and Oh Hyun-kyu calmly kicked the ball and scored. Ahn Byung-joon scored a decisive goal in the extra time of the second half, bringing Suwon Samsung's victory.

It was very regrettable that Lee Seung-woo failed to score a goal on this day. Lee Seung-woo attempted three shots on the day, but only one effective shot was made, and no play threatening the opponent's goal was made.

Personally, I think the reason why this game was lost is the lack of professional spirit and motivation of Suwon FC players. Suwon FC has already confirmed its stay, but Suwon Samsung believes it was able to win because it was desperate. Suwon FC should have focused on the game considering Suwon Derby's pride. If Seowon Derby's pride and Lee Seung-woo's motivation for the Golden Boot (scoring king) were stronger, he would have won against Suwon Samsung regardless of staying in the K League 1.

Lee is currently fourth in the K League 1 scoring list. There is only three points difference from Jeju FC's No. 1 Joo Min-kyu. Suwon FC will play its last game of the season against FC Seoul on the 22nd, and it is expected whether Suwon FC players will be able to perform well or whether Lee Seung-woo will become the top scorer with a hat trick.
