Chap1. Probability and Distributions
Introduction
Statistical experiment:
Outcome that cannot be predicted with certainty prior to the experiment
Sample space(표본공간 C)
Event(표본공간의 부분집합)
Ex 1.1.1 동전 던지기 -> Tossing a coin: C = {H,T}
Ex 1.1.2 주사위 2개 -> e = {(1,1), (1,2), ..., (6,6)
...
Relative Frequency(상대 도수 = 객관적): 여러번 시도하여 얼마나 나오는가
Personal or subjective(주관적)
1.2 집합이론(set theory)
Def 1.2.1
C1⊂C2
의미: C1은 C2의 subset(부분집합)이다.
Def 1.2.2
null(empty) set: ϕ
ex 1.2.1
Ck = {x: (k+1)1≤x<=1}
==> ⋃k=1∞Ck>0
i.e. ∀k, (k+1)1>0
=> x:0<x≤1 (ϵ−δ operation)
Def 1.2.4
C1∩C2
C1∩C2∩C3∩C4⋅⋅⋅ := ⋂k=1∞Ck
ex.1.2.2
Ck = {x:0<x<k1}
==> ⋂k=1∞Ck=ϕ
∀x, k>0
s.t.k1<x
Def 1.2.5
Cc = Cˉ: C가 아닌 부분 = complement(여집합)
- Point function: domain이 point
- set function : domain이 set
ex.1.2.3
1) point func,
f(x)=2x => f(2)=2∗2=4
2) set func,
f(A) = # of positive integers in A
A = x:−∞<x<6 => f(A)=5
ex)
∫cf(x)dx
∫c2∫c1f(x,y)dxdy
∫∫∫⋅⋅⋅ f(x1,x2,⋅⋅⋅xk)dx1⋅dx2⋅⋅⋅dxk ==> k-fold integration
##1.3 The Probability Set Function
Def 1.3.1
(1) ϕ∈B
(2) c∈B ==> Cc∈B ==> closed under complement: 여사건의 성질에 대해 닫혀있다.
(3) C1,C2,⋅⋅⋅∈B ==> ⋃k=1∞Ck∈B
⋃k=1∞ -> Countable union(One to One Correspondence integers(Closed under countable Union)
Examples of σ−field
(1) B = {ϕ,C,Cc,S}
(2) B: Power set of S(power set
(3) B = ⋂i=1∞ϵi:D∈ϵi is a σ−field
==> σ−field generated by D
Def 1.3.2(probability)
C: sample space
B: σ−field on C
P: real-valued function
*P: probability of function if
1. P(c)>0 , ∀⊂C => non-negativity
2. P(S)=1 => normality
3. C1,C2,⋅⋅⋅∈B, Ci∩Cj=ϕ, ∀i=j,
P(⋃i=1∞Ci)=∑i=1nP(Ci)=> countable additivity
* Countable Additivity를 활용한 정리
Thm 1.3.1
P(C)=1−P(Cc),∀∈B
(pf)
C=C∪Cc, C∩Cc=ϕ
P(C)=P(C∪Cc)1=P(C)+P(Cc) (by countable additivity)
