[CH1] Crystal Structure

광물은 1912년 X-ray(0.1-10nm)가 발견되면서 그 구조를 자세히 볼 수 있게 되었다.

Crystal

: Infinite repetition of identical groups of atoms

여기서 identical groups of atoms를 Basis라고 부른다.

Lattice

: Mathematical points to which basis is attached

Lattice는 특정 원자나 basis를 지칭하는 게 아니라 구조적으로 걔네가 붙을 수 있는 point를 의미 ! (lattice point =/= atom 위치)

Lattice는 translaction vector들로 표현이된다.

Unit Cell

: Elementary building block of periodic structure

Primitive unit cell
unit cell안에 lattice point가 exactly one인 경우 !
