A: Hey, I'm on my way to the bank right now. I'll be back in about half an hour.

• It's going to take about half an hour 라고도 할 수 있지만,
  다녀온다는 뉘앙스를 풍기기 위해서 I'll be back ~ 사용함

B: Oh, while you're out, Could you pick up an extension cord for me?

• while you're out: 나간 김에. 나가 있는 동안에. 상태에 대한 묘사.
  ※ on your way out: 나가는 길에. 이동하는 그 길에. 상당히 다르다.
• pick up: 나가는 김에 (어떤 다른 일이 이루어지고 있는 가운데) 잠깐 들려서 뭔가를 살때 가장 잘 어울리는 표현

A: Sure. I guess I can stop by a supermarket on my way back.

• I guess I can: ~~하지 뭐. I guess는 그 자리에서 즉석으로 내가 하는 생각을 말로 표현해내는 뉘앙스. 불확실성. 내가 느끼는 추측의 뉘앙스를 살려주는.
• stop by 동의어: drop by, swing by

B: Oh and, while you're at it, I actually have a few more things I need, if you don't mind.

• while you're at it: ~을 하는 김에.
  - 예외: ~에 가는 김에는 while you're there 을 사용해야 함.
  - 예시: while you're at it, could you clean my room, too?
• if you don't mind: 부탁 좀 할게.
  - 조금 더 공손하게: if it's not too much trouble
  

A: If you have some things to buy, you might as well just come with me.

• might as well: 어차피 ~ 할거면 ~하는게 낫다.
  you might as well just come with me.
  = you might as well just come along.
  = we might as well just go together.

1. Helen and Clare have just missed the bus. The buses run every hour.
We might as well do something = we should do it because there is no better alternative.
There is no reason not to do it.

Helen: What should we do? Should we walk?
Clare: We might as well. It's a nice day, and I don't want to wait there for an hour. 

2. Your computer doesn't work anymore. It will cost a lot to repair.
You say: It's not worth repairing. I might as well buy a new one.

3. You've painted the kitchen. You still have a lot of paint, 
so why not paint the bathroom too?
You say: I might as well paint the kitchen, too. There's plenty of paint left.

4. You and a friend are at home. You're bored. 
There's a movie on TV starting in a few minutes. 
You say: We might as well watch it. There's nothing else to do.
