  • det⁡(A−λI)=0\det(A-\lambda I)=0
  • Trace=λ1+λ2+...+λnTrace=\lambda_1+\lambda_2+...+\lambda_n

우선 AxAx는 마치 함수에 변수를 넣는 것처럼 A(x)A(x)와 같다.
"Ax is parallel to x\text{$Ax$ is parallel to $x$}"

Ax=λxAx=\lambda x
(λ:eigenvalue,x:eigenvector)(\lambda:eigenvalue, x:eigenvector)

  • If A is singular → λ=0\text{If $A$ is singular $\rightarrow$ $\lambda=0$} (∣A∣=0|A|=0)
  • x in plane →Px=x\text{$x$ in plane $\rightarrow Px=x$} (PP: projection matrix)
  • x⊥plane →Px=0x\text{$x \perp$plane $\rightarrow Px=0x$} (λ=0\lambda=0)

A=[0110]A= \begin{bmatrix} 0 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 \end{bmatrix}
Ax=λxAx=\lambda x

직관적으로 xx를 [11],[1−1]\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ 1\end{bmatrix},\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ -1\end{bmatrix}라고 해보자.

x=[11],Ax=[0110][11]=λ[11]x=\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ 1\end{bmatrix}, Ax= \begin{bmatrix} 0 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 \\ \end{bmatrix}\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ 1\end{bmatrix} = \lambda\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ 1\end{bmatrix}
∴λ=1\therefore \lambda=1
x=[1−1],Ax=[0110][1−1]=λ[1−1]x=\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ -1\end{bmatrix}, Ax= \begin{bmatrix} 0 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 \\ \end{bmatrix}\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ -1\end{bmatrix} = \lambda\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ -1\end{bmatrix}
∴λ=−1\therefore \lambda=-1

  • trace = a11+a22+...+ann = sum of λ’s \text{trace = $a_{11}+a_{22}+...+a_{nn}$ = sum of $\lambda$'s }
  • 0+0=1+(−1)0+0=1+(-1)

Ax=λxAx=\lambda x
(A−λI)x=0 (x≠0)(A-\lambda I)x=0 \ (x \ne 0)
A−λI:singular→det⁡(A−λI)=0A-\lambda I : singular \rightarrow \det(A-\lambda I)=0

위와 같이 det⁡(A−λI)=0\det(A-\lambda I)=0 수식을 통해 λ\lambda 값을 찾고, 이 값을 (A−λI)x=0(A-\lambda I)x=0 에 적용하여 xx를 찾을 수 있겠다.
ex.

A=[3113]A= \begin{bmatrix} 3 & 1 \\ 1 & 3 \\ \end{bmatrix}
det⁡(A−λI)=∣3−λ113−λ∣=(3−λ)2−1=λ2−6λ+8=(λ−4)(λ−2)=0\det(A-\lambda I) = \begin{vmatrix} 3-\lambda & 1 \\ 1 & 3-\lambda \\ \end{vmatrix} = (3-\lambda)^2-1 = \lambda^2-6\lambda+8 = (\lambda-4)(\lambda-2)=0
∴λ1=4,λ2=2\therefore \lambda_1=4,\lambda_2=2

(A−λI)x=0(A-\lambda I)x=0

x1x_1

[−111−1]x=0\begin{bmatrix} -1 & 1 \\ 1 & -1 \\ \end{bmatrix} x = 0
∴x1=[11]\therefore x_1=\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ 1\end{bmatrix}

x2x_2

[1111]x=0\begin{bmatrix} 1 & 1 \\ 1 & 1 \\ \end{bmatrix} x = 0
∴x2=[−11]\therefore x_2=\begin{bmatrix}-1 \\ 1\end{bmatrix}

A=[3113]A=\begin{bmatrix} 3 & 1 \\ 1 & 3 \\ \end{bmatrix} 에 대한 Ax=λxAx=\lambda x 의 정답은 다음과 같다.

  • λ1=4,x1=[−111−1]\lambda_1=4,x_1=\begin{bmatrix} -1 & 1 \\ 1 & -1 \\ \end{bmatrix}
  • λ2=2,x2=[1111]\lambda_2=2,x_2=\begin{bmatrix} 1 & 1 \\ 1 & 1 \\ \end{bmatrix}

다음으로 (A+3I)x(A+3I)x에 대해서 생각해보자.

(A+3I)x=Ax+3x=λx+3x=(λ+3)x(A+3I)x = Ax+3x = \lambda x+3 x=(\lambda+3)x

(A+B)x=(λ+α)x(A+B)x=(\lambda+\alpha)x
Ax=λxAx=\lambda x, By=αyBy=\alpha y

Q=[cosπ2−sinπ2sinπ2−cosπ2]=[0−110]Q= \begin{bmatrix} cos\frac{\pi}{2} & -sin\frac{\pi}{2} \\ sin\frac{\pi}{2} & -cos\frac{\pi}{2} \\ \end{bmatrix} = \begin{bmatrix} 0 & -1 \\ 1 & 0 \\ \end{bmatrix}
∣−λ−11−λ∣=λ2+1=0\begin{vmatrix} -\lambda & -1 \\ 1 & -\lambda \\ \end{vmatrix} = \lambda^2 + 1=0
∴λ1=i,λ2=−i\therefore \lambda_1=i, \lambda_2=-i
trace=0+0=λ1+λ2trace=0+0=\lambda_1+\lambda_2
det⁡Q=1=λ1×λ2\det Q=1=\lambda_1 \times \lambda_2

A=[3103]A = \begin{bmatrix} 3 & 1 \\ 0 & 3 \\ \end{bmatrix}
det⁡(A−λI)=∣3−λ103−λ∣=(3−λ)2=0\det(A-\lambda I) = \begin{vmatrix} 3-\lambda & 1 \\ 0 & 3-\lambda \\ \end{vmatrix} = (3-\lambda)^2=0
∴λ1=3,λ2=3\therefore \lambda_1=3, \lambda_2=3
(A−λI)x=0(A-\lambda I)x=0
[0100]x=0\begin{bmatrix} 0 & 1 \\ 0 &0 \\ \end{bmatrix} x =0
∴x1=[10]\therefore x_1=\begin{bmatrix}1 \\ 0\end{bmatrix}
x2 = No 2nd independent eigen vector\text{$x_2$ = No 2nd independent eigen vector}
